How I've helped men quit Alcohol, Nicotine & Anxiety Meds

How I've helped men quit Alcohol, Nicotine & Anxiety Medication

It's no secret that we all struggle with addiction. Many of us are aware, but struggle to kick these unhealthy habits.

Which is why I was stoked after 3 men in my men's group shared they quit alcohol, nicotine and anxiety medication after a few weeks of doing one simple thing.

A tool that has become a staple with all of my clients. Before I share, let's dive into addiction and why they get such a nasty grip on us in the first place.

Addictions form usually because we are either trying to avoid thinking or feeling a certain way. These "habits" if you will, become a tool to cope with what's missing in our life or the pain of what we are dealing with.

I've worked with all types of men and women who have addictions around:

  • Food
  • Technology (Social media, netflix, gaming)
  • Substances
  • Sex, relationships or porn
  • Gambling
  • Biting your nails
  • Work (being codependent on your business is a thing)
  • Personal growth (yeah even something "good" can be used to cope)
  • Excessive working out
  • Making money
  • Information (endlessly researching for answers)
  • Any other hobby or tool to escape or numb out that becomes compulsive

The reason I believe the addictions keep coming back time and again is because:

A) We don't get to the root cause
B) We don't have tools to self regulate our nervous system

Getting to the root cause is a necessary and deep process for lasting change. It's the only way to transmute the core issue into healing. I won't go to deep into this now because there are a lot of layers, and it often requires a longer term approach (What I do in my 1:1 coaching programs)

I do want to talk about regulating our nervous system because this is the single most effective way I've helped so many people overcome habitual patterns, addictions and reactivity.

I've found breathwork & embodiment practices to be an extremely effective way to move and clear energy to be more grounded, connected and free of unwanted emotions.

You see emotions are just energy in motion.

When we feel anxiety, sadness, anger, etc it's really just a build up of pressure that wants to move.

If we don't know how to move it in a healthy way it will impact how we think, speak and the actions we take.

If we move it in an unhealthy way (alcohol, cannabis, etc) we are just suppressing what's there.

Using the breath and body to clear out this energy and emotions allows us to reset our nervous system. It's like turning on the windshield wipers on a rainy day, helping you navigate the storm.

And for a lot of people this is all they need to overcome addictions...

At least that's what happened to 3 men in my men's group who struggled with alcohol, nicotine and was taking medication for anxiety.

You see I start my men's program by teaching a weekly breathwork and meditation practices. All meant to get in the body and clear the unwanted residue of stress, anxiety or unwanted emotions.

These practices are meant to help men regulate their own stress, connect deeper to themselves and provide clarity in their life.

And by performing these simple practices for less than 15 minutes every day, these 3 men had one thing in common by the end of 3 weeks..

They all quit their codependent relationship with alcohol, nicotine and anxiety medication.

I was floored and ecstatic at hearing this news!

And not at all surprised.

These are tools that our ancestors have used since the beginning of time that somehow our modern world has forgotten. Allowing us to cultivate a great sense of self and grounded presence.

This is the whole reason I created my 21 day challenge: Grounded. I'm combining 21 days of breathwork practices and journal prompts to help men become more present, connected and on purpose using the same tools I teach in my men's group.

For just $1 a day you can join us starting on January 1st! Click below to find out more and sign up.

The Power of Deadlines In January of 2017 I gave myself a 1 year deadline to find a new career path, with the ultimatum that I would quit my CrossFit coaching job by end of the year no matter what.I remember thinking 6 months after getting this job that I knew I didn’t want to do this long term. 5 Years later I was still there - hence the line in the sand. I knew I had to s*** or get off the pot if I didn’t want my life to pass me by. I spend the next year being mentored to go into Orthopedic...
