I turned down Strength Coaching jobs at Texas A&M and Maryland

Don’t let your potential prevent your purpose

In 2018 I was working as a Strength & Conditioning coach at Clemson University with Olympic Sports - basically every team except for football and basketball.

Prior to that I was at Colorado State University working with their football team.

I had been on a quest to carve a career path in this field.

Towards the end of my time at Clemson I was offered jobs at Texas A&M and Maryland and I decided not to take either one.

This was one of the hardest decisions of my life.

Both were great opportunities leading my to the next level of growth, but I had this pit in my stomach I couldn’t ignore.

Everyone around me thought I was crazy.

Hell even I thought I was crazy.

I was a great coach and it seemed like an obvious next step in this field

But I was unhappy and unfulfilled with this work. I wanted more for my life and a bigger vision for how I could impact the world.

With so much doubt and uncertainty at this time in my life, one quote guided me through “don’t let your potential prevent your purpose.”

Since then I'ver realized there’s infinite possibilities with what we could do with our lives.

It can be easy to get boxed into what you’re “supposed” to do or what you’re really good at.

What the world deems as worthwhile, successful or appropriate.

But that doesn’t mean it’s what is most aligned with your heart and deeper purpose on earth.

And the funny thing about purpose is it doesn’t always make the most logical sense.

We can do a lot of things really well in our life, but our purpose is the intersection of 3 things:

  1. What you love
  2. What you’re really good at
  3. What the world needs

I was a really talented strength and conditioning coach and I had a deep love for it - albeit that love faded over time.

But I felt like there was something else I was meant to do, and this field was littered with many great coaches.

I felt a deeper calling to help people find what sets their soul on fire and live the most authentic and purposeful lives.

As much as it didn’t make sense at the time I’m so grateful I listened to that aching in my stomach.

So if you’re finding yourself at a crossroads or in a season of uncertainty - remember to that your purpose is greater than your potential.

If you want to get clear on this purpose and step into your authenticity as a leader I have spots opening up soon for my online men’s group and 1:1 coaching.

You can apply ➡️ HERE. Once you apply we will get on a 30 minute call to connect and see if we are a god fit.

The Power of Deadlines In January of 2017 I gave myself a 1 year deadline to find a new career path, with the ultimatum that I would quit my CrossFit coaching job by end of the year no matter what.I remember thinking 6 months after getting this job that I knew I didn’t want to do this long term. 5 Years later I was still there - hence the line in the sand. I knew I had to s*** or get off the pot if I didn’t want my life to pass me by. I spend the next year being mentored to go into Orthopedic...

In fact I’ve made a rule with myself - whenever I feel the overwhelming pressure build up to get things done immediately, I shut the project down ASAP.This happens most often with Instagram. I wake up, have my coffee, get some sunshine, open my phone and then bam- the alarm bells go off. That little voice screams : “if...
